Over 100 Years of Banking. Made Personal.
FVSBank’s story began with local people helping local families build stronger futures. From Waupun to Fond du Lac, Oshkosh, and beyond, our roots have always been grounded in community, service, and personal connection.
Built by Community
Started by local citizens who believed their neighbors deserved a safe place to save and borrow.
Focused on Families
Helping people buy homes, grow savings, and move forward has been part of our mission from the beginning.
Still Personal Today
Technology has changed. Our commitment to people has not.
Where We Started
A Community Vision in Waupun
In 1924, 75 community-minded citizens came together to create the Waupun Building & Loan Association. Their goal was simple but powerful: help local workers and families save money, buy homes, and build stability.
This was more than banking. it was neighbors investing in neighbors.
Growing in Fond du Lac
A New Beginning During a Difficult Time
In 1934, during the years following the Great Depression, 50 individuals each contributed $100 to start a new financial institution in Fond du Lac.
Their vision became First Federal Savings and Loan Association – the beginning of what would eventually become FVSBank.
As our communities continued to grow, FVSBank's early organizations in both Waupun and Fond du Lac became some of the first local financial institutions to help community members secure home financing.
At a time where homeownership was out of reach for many working families, these early lending programs created opportunities for people to buy homes, establish roots, and build financial stability close to home.
For many families, these were more than loans - they were first changes to build generational wealth.
That commitment to helping people achieve homeownership continues today through personalized mortgage solutions, local lenders, and community-focused banking.
